Winter 2014 Class
Schedule
For 1.5 to 3 year olds with a Parent/Caregiver
Each week, you can
nurture your toddler’s energy and creativity in a Kindermusik class designed
for your child on the move! We understand that toddlers want to do it all, but
really thrive most with your guidance and helping hand. So, we allow plenty of
room for busy toddlers to explore and discover, to initiate their own ideas,
and to respond in their own ways, while your active participation provides the
security your child needs. As you play instruments, sing, and dance, you’ll
uncover an engaging musical world while building your toddler’s confidence,
self-control, and early language skills. Our Time reflects the emotional
foundations of school readiness and the latest research on music and early
childhood development, and is a unique opportunity for parent and child to
interact and learn together in an unhurried and joyful manner.
In Away We
Go! we will hop on the train, get in the car, board the plane, and
Away We Go! This class focuses on transportation, a favorite topic for toddlers
who are on the go, go, go! Sing and play along with favorite songs, such as
“I’ve Been Workin’ on the Railroad” and “Wheels on the Bus”. Explore fast and
slow, smooth and bumpy, and high and low. Read stories about ways to get
around. Shiny Dinah tells the story of a train, and Giddy-Up! has a horse,
speedboat, racecar, and more to help you get where you want to go.
For 0 to 1.5 year olds with a Parent/Caregiver
In Kindermusik Village
baby music classes, we start with that special connection between you and your
child, add in our unique blend of musical learning activities, and top it all
off with the joy of shared experiences with the other adults and children in
your class. All along the way, your Kindermusik teacher will share tips and
ideas that will give your child the best kind of musical head start and will
help make your everyday routines a little bit easier and a whole lot more
musical. Whether it’s dancing with your child around a maypole, cuddling
together for Quiet Time, or exploring a gathering drum with the friends you’ve
made in class, Kindermusik Village
will be an experience like no other. Village is for lap babies, crawlers, and
walkers. It incorporates the most current research on early childhood
development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting
with other parents and babies through music and movement.
In DewDrops we will take time to stop and smell the roses—and lily of the
valley, and tulips, and pansies. In this class, parents and babies will play
and move together to songs about flowers, such as “Jasmine Flower,” “How Does
Your Garden Grow?,” and “White Coral Bells.” You’ll also hear traditional Irish
music, dance a jig and move to the “Irish Trot.” In your At Home Materials,
you'll receive a CD of beautifully arranged songs from class, a board book of
flowers, and an instrument for music-making at home.
For 3 to 5 year olds
Imagine That!
takes your preschooler on an incredible musical journey… a journey that is
limited only by the power of imagination. Singing becomes a focus for
enhancing your preschooler’s vocal development as her expressive language is
just beginning to emerge. Pretend play activities are integrated with
music, vocal development, storytelling, movement and literature to capture your
child’s potential to learn and to encourage her cognitive and literacy skills,
creativity and individuality. You will be amazed at just how far a little
imagination…and a lot of music… can go. Imagine
That! is designed for active, energetic, enthusiastic, and imaginative
children ages 3 to 5. Classes encourage socialization, sharing, and
participating in group activities.
Toys I Make, Trips I Take - Think of it like taking a course inside your child’s
imagination. We’ll use the theme of a toy shop to make our pretend-creations,
using rhythm and songs with every imaginary saw, hammer, and nail. The result
is building your preschooler’s sense of a sequence of events, which is good for
storytelling, as well as making their ideas a reality.
For 5 to 7 year olds
Young Child prepares the school-age
child who is eager for first experiences with musical symbols and instrument
discovery, but is not yet ready for formal lessons and traditional music
reading with an instrument. Everything your child learns later in
semesters 2, 3, and 4 begins with this early introduction to singing, reading,
and writing music and rhythm. Through dances and games that focus on rhythmic
development, we'll learn a keyboard instrument—the glockenspiel—which will be
used throughout the Young Child classes. Your At Home Materials provide
the music, instruments, stickers, and activities for a home version of the same
playful activities you'll hear about from class, so your child—and you!—can
learn where you're most comfortable: at home.
